What people say about us

I have been fortunate enough to work with both Emma and Rachel over the past couple of years and they are a wonderful combination of professional and personable.  Together they make a great duo, encouraging open conversations and a fun atmosphere for workshops, whilst still covering serious subject matter and leaving the audience better informed.

Emma recently join Zurich Pride for an event exploring all the personal stories behind the current media representation of trans and non-binary people.  We received excellent feedback on Emma’s knowledge and open approach.

And when I thought of a new angle for an LGBT Insurance Network workshop, Emma and Rachel worked quickly to design a bespoke training module that was exactly what I needed. I have every faith it’s going to be as enlightening as ever.

Thank you ladies!

We are delighted to be able to partner with Global Butterflies.

The team has provided valuable guidance, expertise and support as we continue to progress our global D&I strategy and strive to create a more inclusive culture.

Diversity, equity and inclusion are essential to fulfilling our purpose and are core to our values, enabling us to be more creative in everything we do and open spaces for our colleagues, customers and communities.

Rachel and Emma have a clear purpose to educate and empower others to recognise and actively champion trans* and non-binary inclusion for all.

We look forward to continuing working together to create lasting change.

In the security industry we are not renowned for being diverse or inclusive. By introducing Emma to the ASIS UK members we aimed to open the channels of communication and encourage security professionals to learn, empower and enable our industry to take Diversity & Inclusion seriously rather than pay it lip service. Emma Cusdin is an inspiring and engaging speaker. I particularly like her approach to the audience.

Emma immediately encourages participation, asks opinions, and questions the audience. This puts everyone at ease very quickly. The feedback that we had after our event was so positive! I would recommend Emma and her Team at Global Butterflies to any organisation or indeed industries like ours who are seeking expertise, knowledge, real life experiences of Diversity and Inclusion in the workplace.

Amanda McCloskey

Director of Women in Security, ASIS UK

We have worked with Global Butterflies for the past few years and can highly recommend both Rachel and Emma. Rachel’s knowledge and experience was invaluable in helping us draft and launch our Trans policies in the London office. They also delivered training for our employees, which was received very positively and we look forward to continuing our relationship in raising awareness around this very important topic.

CR & Diversity Manager, Bird & Bird

I have recently worked with Rachel on a number of initiatives, one being the delivery of an educational workshop on trans & non-binary inclusion in the workplace. Rachel is an exceptional presenter, incredibly articulate and highly engaging. She is an expert in her field with in-depth knowledge and extensive experience on how best to support workplaces on their journey in becoming more trans & non-binary inclusive. She is an absolute pleasure to work with and I look forward to working with her and the Global Butterflies team in the future.

Alexis Goldfarb

Vice President | Senior Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Consultant – EMEA

We loved working with Rachel on our gender identity workshop. As a trans individual she brings the kind of insight that no amount of technical expertise or legal excellence alone can

deliver and as a professional she offered complete flexibility in adapting her contribution to fit in with our overview of what we wanted the workshop to achieve. Most important of all, she

displays unfailing good humour and is reassuringly down to earth, giving people permission to ask questions and truly engage with the subject. The feedback we had from attendees

(internal and external) was excellent.”

Deborah Dagleish

Head of Diversity & Inclusion, Ashurst LLP

Rachel and Emma have been invaluable sources of knowledge and support for us on our trans-inclusion journey at the firm. The workshops they have delivered were extremely

insightful and feedback from participants has been excellent. Rachel and Emma have a delivery style which immediately engages the audience and puts participants at ease.

Thank you for your support and guidance.

Lead of Diversity & Inclusion, EMEA – Norton Rose Fulbright LLP

As part of the Trowers Includes Programme on diversity issues, we invited Rachel to speak on the subject of transgender issue or simply trans as we now refer to it following her

presentation. The aim of the series is to make the firm feel a more inclusive workplace, to increase tolerance and understanding and open our minds to how diversity and inclusivity are

assets in the workplace. Rachel’s presentation was very well attended and received and both informed, stimulated and educated our audience and the resultant feedback has been

excellent. Her delivery style is polished, professional, relaxed and humorous and we were delighted with the whole event.”

Paul Robinson

Director of Human Resources, Trowers & Hamlins LLP

The information she shared, including her own personal experiences, really helped to illustrate the diverse journeys that trans people go through and how people and businesses can

be trans inclusive. We have received excellent feedback from our attendees, and many have commented on how they were put at ease by Rachel’s sense of humour, which helped

them to understand the content, and that they have increased respect for trans people and their journeys”.

Elizabeth Kerry

Diversity and Wellbeing Manager, Hogan Lovells LLP

I have been working with Rachel since 2016. She has been amazing and has helped me on my journey to understand the trans space and the concerns and issues the trans community face.

Rachel has supported me to better understand how organisations and individuals can be more trans inclusive and I know we can make progress by not only changing our own behaviours but by looking at the way organisations normally do things.

Rachel has helped to identify ways in which we can de-bias workplaces – and this can be by looking at the way we recruit and hire, by making good use of our workplace allies and by using data analytics to help achieve positive outcomes for equality, diversity and inclusion.

Rachel delivered training for us as part of the LGBT Mentoring Scheme. She also provided training to our staff and has been personally involved in our work to encourage trans inclusion in the legal profession.

She has been a great adviser and expert and has helped to explain the legal complexities that are also a part of the trans conversation.

She has helped to make smart changes which we hope will have big impacts.

Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Manager, Solicitors Regulation Authority

I have had the privilege of working with Global Butterflies at three law firms and have seen first-hand Rachel and Emma’s ability to coach and support firms towards becoming truly trans inclusive.  Whether that’s focusing on developing policy and process or engaging and educating staff at all levels – including those in specialist roles.

Most recently, Emma delivered a Trans Ally webinar to our Global Allies Network – with an audience of over 180 people from all corners of the globe. The session was informative and insightful and drew on Emma’s own personal experience – we are still receiving tremendous feedback!   I’ve learnt an incredible amount myself through this journey.

For many organisations – or HR and Diversity specialists, starting on the road towards becoming trans inclusive can feel a bit daunting.  Partnering with true experts in this space makes all the difference.

Rachel and Emma are also an absolute joy to work with!

Justine Thompson

Head of Diversity & Inclusivity, Bryan Cave Leighton Paisner LLP

It was a pleasure to work with Rachel who delivered a webinar titled ‘Trans 101: The trans and non-binary space’ .

Rachel explored what it means to be trans / non-binary in the UK, looked at terminology, the transition journey, the law, allyship, and what respectful engagement with the trans / non-binary community looks like in and outside the workplace.

What a fantastic and well delivered session supported by resources to share with staff. Feedback from colleagues following the webinar was extremely positive and the session supported our commitment to learning about and celebrating our differences and respecting every voice.

Having an opportunity for staff to ask questions following the session was very much welcomed. A huge thank you Rachel for a truly informing, engaging and inspiring session.

She has helped to make smart changes which we hope will have big impacts.
